Losing weight and the various methodologies people use have been over beaten by people. While some people say they have easy, fast and safe means by which you can lose weight, some others claim that it is not possible to lose weight fast. In my own opinion, it is possible to lose weight fast though not all the methods will work for the same individual. While some methods will work for some people, it will not work for others.

It is interesting to know that some of the methods are not entirely safe, some carry adverse effects that can put an individuals life at risk. It is therefore important from a medical point of view that you consult with your physician before you try out any of the methods.

Your physician should carry out detailed examinations and investigations on you and rule out any condition or disease that might not enable you to use any particular method because of the risk involved. For example, an individual that has peptic ulcer disease or who is predisposed to it should not try fasting as a means to lose weight because this will only aggravate the symptoms of the peptic ulcer disease.

Consulting with your physician before you choose the means by which you will lose weight fast is not only to ensure you choose a safe method, but also to monitor your health, make sure you do not lose too much weight and develop an eating disorder. In essence, it is better you do not start any weight loss method without consulting your physician. The health tips he or she gives you will go a long way in helping you lose weight

Losing weight has its adverse effects especially when it is done rapidly. Many people don’t realise that when they lose too much weight  in a short time, they can gain even much more back once they stop, making their latter state to be worse than the former. Rapid weight loss can also lead to excess skin tags which may latter necessitate plastic surgery.

Muscle loss could occur in the process of losing weight. The aim of dieting is to reduce weight through fat loss but if not careful, muscles will be lost in the process. This can be prevented by regularly lifting weights or doing push ups and by maintaining sufficient protein intake. Those that are on a low carbohydrate diet and are doing lots of strenuous work should increase their protein intake.

During prolonged fasting or very low calorie diet, there is reduction in blood glucose, the preferred energy source of the brain, causing the body to deplete its glycogen stores. Once the glycogen stores are depleted, the body starts using ketones as energy source for the brain. This can eventually lead to dizziness and subsequently fainting.  

Other side effects of rapid weight loss include loss of sex drive, depression, irritability, prolonged hunger, fatigue, fainting spells, rashes, gall bladder disease, rashes, malnutrition, constipation (from reduced food intake), dehydration (from reduced water intake). Also we have, lowered metabolism making future attempt at weight loss more difficult. There is also the risk of developing eating disorder especially anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa.

Lose weight fast

Losing weight fast can be the done by counting and taking track of the number of calories you eat and drink. Counting calories might seem funny and hard. I mean why you have to count the number of calories you eat in a day and have it written out. That means that you have to take note of all the things you have eaten that day and then actually know the number of calories they contain. It is not that hard though, a lot of people are counting calories and it is working for them. You can try it if you want to and it is pretty simple.
To start, wake up, eat like you will normally eat, and count the amount of calories in everything you eat and everything you drink and keep track of it in a diary or on a piece of paper or on a computer somewhere. At the end of that day, add up all the number of calories you ate or drank. Try to be as exact as possible. From the day after you counted your calories, start by reducing the number of calories you ate and drank by 500. Let us say the day you counted your calories, you eat and drank 2500 calories, the day after you should reduce the calories you eat and drink to 2000 calories. For the whole of that week, you should consume the new number of calories i.e. 500 calories less than you normally eat. Do this every week i.e. reduce your calories consumption by 500 and stick to that for the rest of the week.

This does really look simple to me since most of your packed or processed food and drinks have the amount of calories contained written on them. In addition to counting your calories, you can also spread out what you are eating over the day. Let us say you eat 3 big meals in a day, you can spread it out to 5 smaller meals in a day. This will help you spread out the calories and speed up your metabolism. Counting of calories alone will not work as effectively as adding cardio workouts to it. Jog, swim, take an aerobics class, walk, jump rope, ride a bike, any workout that will be convenient and interesting to you. At the end of the week check your weight and see if it has not dropped.

Exercising can be fun if you want it to be. It is best when you exercise at the time of the day when it feels convenient for you. Waking up early in the morning to jog is not a bad idea, it could be more fun if you do it in the company of your friends, and you can also jog with music on. If you find it difficult or unsafe to go out in the morning and jog, then you can get a skipping rope and skip at home. Better still you can get a treadmill or cycler and work out in the comfort of your home. The good part about working out at home is that you can workout at any time that is convenient for you, you do not have to worry that the sun is out or that it is too dark, also it is safe.

How do i lose this weight, i have become an object of ridicule or it is affecting my health or it is difficult to get clothes my size when i go shopping? I have to warn you though, you have got to remove the skin on the chicken and turkey before cooking it. Any obvious fat on the beef should also be removed. Egg white can be eaten to your hearts content but the yolk should be reduced to a minimum of 1 per day. Totally avoid frying your food because what we want to achieve is to reduce the fat content on your food to the barest minimum. 

As for the fruits, you can have as much as you like as long as you do not have too much of fruits with  lots of sugar like pineapple, or the ones that are too starchy like bananas. The vegetables too are unlimited (caution: no salad cream). Okay now that we know what the protein diet is composed of, you can draw out a food table where you organise your meals in order for them not to become boring because i do not want you to give up.

Let me tell you the principle behind the protein diet. Normally, when you eat, your body takes what it needs at present and the rest is stored either as glycogen or as fat. If you are fasting, your body cells go into starvation mode, your metabolism rate goes down and your body holds on tight to the fat it has stored keeping it for the stormy days.  Unless you are planning to starve for long your body wont release that fat or it will only release it slowly and once you start to eat again it stores up more fat at a rate faster than the food you are eating. Protein diet deceives your body into thinking that you are eating but yet you are not eating energy rich food, so your body is forced to use up its fat stores.
